Hi Carla and Ricky:

The Jesse Rhea to whom you referred, who is reputed to have been a
Revolutionary soldier, absolutely intrigues me and all my James and
Jesse Rhea cousins!

My JESSE RHEA was born 25 Sept 1778 in NC, according to census records.
He was the son of JAMES RHEA and MARY PAUL of Rockbridge Co., VA. They
were in East TN by 1796 (Washington, Greene?, and Blount Counties).
Jesse and his wife, MARGARET BLAIR, were in Monroe Co. by 1834.

Jesse's father, James Rhea, is also reputed to have been a Revolution-
ary soldier, but no record to that effect has been found. There is a
reference in "Cemeteries of Blount Co., TN" to a connection to a Cox
family in Blount Co., TN.

My Jesse Rhea would have been 18 years younger than YOUR Jesse Rhea in
Virginia.

We James/Jesse Rhea cousins have found very few Jesse Rheas in our
searches. Because there ARE so few Jesse Rheas, we believe that
eventually we'll connect them all to the same family. We have wondered
whether there is a connection between James and Jesse Rhea and ARCHIBALD
RHEA, another of my lines! (Archibald is my 5-great-grandfather).

Louis L. Rhea, son of my 3-great-grandfather Robert "Bobbie" Rhea, Jr.
(son of Robert Rhea, Sr. and Sarah Bingham) and Mary Stephens, served
during the War of 1812 "in the place of Jesse Rhea." Robert Rhea, Jr.
and his son Louis L. Rhea were in Blount Co., TN at the same time that
James and Jesse Rhea were there. Louis L. Rhea married Martha Holloway
and they removed to Alabama after the War of 1812.

My Jesse Rhea and Margaret Blair had 14 children: James Jr., Mary/
Polly, Rebecca J., John, William Henderson, Elizabeth/Betsy, Sarah,
Margaret, Evalina, Lavina, Wylie, Lewis, Riley B., and Eliza Louisa.

The children of my James Rhea and Mary Paul were Elizabeth, Esther/
Easter, Margaret, Rebecca, John, Jesse, and ?Sally.

This may not help you, but I wanted you to have this information.

Best regards,

Polly Dixon
Team Leader, Group #8 (JAMES AND JESSE RHEA)
