Hi Everyone,
Can anyone tell me more about this Rev. war soldier and his descendants?
Jesse Ray born: October 6, 1760 in Albemarle/Amherst County, Virginia
(Possible son of William Ray and Elizabeth ???, of Scotch-Irish descent;
migrated from England to Virginia)
married: Elenor (Nellie) Baker January 8, 1782 in Wilkes Co., NC.
died: February 10, 1839, Ashe County, NC
It's my understanding that Jesse fought in the Revolutionary War from 1779 to
1781 (serving 7 tours). He was first a private, and then orderly seargent
in the
North Carolina Militia. Later was a Colonel in the Aume(?) County Militia.
Children of Jesse and Elenor:
Elizabeth b.1782
William b.1784 m.Nancy Smith
James b.1786 or 1789 m. Jennie Hardin
John b. 1789 m. Berrila White
Nancy b. 1791 m. Edmond Parsons
Jeremiah b.1792 m.Nancy Morris
Larkin b.1796 m.Nancy Hardin
Polly b. 1798
Hiram b. 1800 m.Nancy Baker
Jennie b.1802 m. Peyton Colvard

Questions ?????????????????????/
1) Does anyone have proof of the parents of Jesse Ray? Is it really this
Wm.Ray and Elizabeth, or is it Thomas Ray ?
2) What is the relationship of Jesse Ray and Ambrose(Ambris) Ray, who married
Susan Lycan 16 Oct,1782 - in Wilkes Co., NC?
3)Who were the siblings of Jesse Ray? He supposedly went on furlough about
the time of the battle of King's Mountain, NC - To care for his sick brother.
4)Did all of Jesse's children stay in the state of NC? Did any of them move
to Georgia?
Thanks for any information concerning these folks!
Sincerely,
Ricky Ray
