In the early days of Social Security many people, especially in
the south, were faced with a major problem. They had no birth certi-
ficate. In order to collect benifits they needed some sort of proof
of their birth. There was a mad rush to the court houses to apply for
delayed certificates.
In some cases they were asked to provide not only the names of
their parents but the ages of same when the applicant was born. Many of
the forms show the place of birth of the parents. These old files are
a treasure trove for family genealogists, both black and white, as the
forms required a declaration of race as well.
To this has been added data from old voters registration cards
which contain varying amounts of information from birth date to parents
names.
Only name from our group of Rhea, Ray, Rea, Wray that was in this list.

Ray, Jessie Mae (w), born 6 June 1906, Calhoun Co., Father: Tom Ray, born
Bartow Co., Georgia; Mother: Jennie Tate, born Gordon Co., Georgia
