Is there someone in the Bristol, VA/TN area that could check marriage
records for me...specifically looking for Thomas James Newman of Wytheville
, b.1844 married in 1876 Alda Roper. However he apparently married again
sometime between 1876 and 1900 to a Jennie Fairman Preston, daughter of John
Fairman Preston and Jane Rhea (dau. of Samuel Rhea and Nancy Breden). Main
interest is that the only child of Thomas Newman was Carol Montgomery Newman
b.1879 d.1941 married Carolyn Fain. Was Carol's mother Jennie Fairman
Preston or Alda Roper ???? I know Jennie and T.J. Newman were married and
living in Bristol in 1900..Any help would be appreciated.
