The following is a *short* list of some published genealogies for Rea
families in Northern Ireland. I would be interested in hearing from
anyone who can add to the list, or who has been able to obtain copies
of the second or third item...

1] Rea, J.H. (1970) 'The Rea Genealogy', private printing, Review
Press (Banbridge) Ltd.,Co. Down, Northern Ireland.

2] Rea, H.O. (1960) 'Samuel Rea 1725-1811: His Heritage and
Descendants', private printing, Dungannon, Northern Ireland.

3] Thornton, A.H. (?) 'A Belfast Man: Memoirs of the Rea Family
1798-1857', ?.

The first is described in the foreword as 'an account of all known
ancestors of the family of John Harris Rea and his wife Isabel McCaw,
also all known direct descendants of William Rea of Drumskee, who was
born in 1680.' The author John Harris Rea is an M.B.E. and F.R.S.A.I.

I photocopied the first 13 pages dealing with the descendants of
William Rea of Drumskee, Dromore, Co. Down. The research is well
substantiated, although I am somewhat sceptical of the advanced age
given for William Rea (105 years). The ancestral part (which I did
not photocopy) deals with various prominent English noblemen going
back to the Norman conquest (and before).

I have been unable to obtain the other genealogies through
inter-library loan (even in the UK), although I understand that there
is a copy of the third in the Line Hall Library in Belfast.
