I am looking for Rays, too...My John Ray, b. about 1830 lived in
Overton County, TN. He was married to Sarah Sally Flatt around
1850, and had the following children: Nathaniel Ray, b. 1853,
Benjamin Ray b. 1855, James Ray, b. 1856, and W. Jasper Ray, b.
1861. John was killed in the civil war. His wife and children
would go on to Christopher, Franklin County, IL (I have not
discovered if there were a family connection to the Reas in
Christopher or not), here they would marry into the Bowling,
McCarley and others who also came from the Overton/Jackson/Clay
county area. In the 1880s, this bunch with some Wilsons and
Plumleys who married in would migrate to Denton and later Johnson
County, TX.

I know there were other Rays in the Overton County area, but I
haven't yet been able to prove a connection to them.
