Subject: [RHEA-L] What names do we accept on the RHEA list?
Date: Tue, 7 Jul 1998 01:03:58 EDT
The Rhea list was formed originally to only include the people whose name was
originally Reah, Reaugh, Rheah, Reaough, and finally RHEA.
Others contacted me and asked if I would accept.. Rea, Rae, and Wray, and we
did. We have a good sprinkling of these three names on the list.
The Rhea name was spelled Ray on census records, and records taken by others.
Bible records, marriage records, cemetery records, etc; the name was spelled
Rhea afer 1800. Before 1800 it was spelled like the names in the first
paragraph.
But we have found that there are those whose name's were spelled Rea, that
were changed to Rhea, and vice versa. WE have a good sprinkling of this
name, but you will see in messages that it is usually Rea/Rhea or Wray/Rea and
so forth. We have a few Rae, not many.
The name RAY has not been a dominent name on this list.
