In a message dated 98-07-02 13:41:43 EDT, you write:
<< John RAY b. 1789 Va. d. 1856 Auburn, Lincoln Co, Missouri (husband of
Frances FLOYD RAY & father of Jefferson & Thomas RAY)
Frances (FLOYD) RAY (daughter of Thomas FLOYD & wife of John RAY &
mother of Jefferson RAY) b.1790 Va. d.after 1860 Auburn, Lincoln Co,
Missouri (John RAY & Frances FLOYD were my maternal 3rd great
grandparents) >>
Let me share with you a bible record from my family. My uncle and I believe
this to be in the handwriting of Eva LECHLER b.1868-d.1937. Her parents were
Samuel RAY and Laura WATKINS of Howard Co MO. The Thomas and family noted is
the uncle to Samuel. I don't know what part of MO Thomas and his family
settled in or anything abt his children. Maybe this will help us find a
connection.
Thomas Ray was born Jun 3,1807
Pheby Italy Ray was bonr Jul 18, 1814
Thomas Ray Jr was born Feb 28,1843
Charles Robert Ray was born Oct 28,1844
Addy Ann Ray was born Jun 25,1848 ( looks like it then says...and baptised
Arp. 10,1865)
John L Groves was born Jan (?) 1842
Virginia Rosa Groves was born Oct 8,1902 and died at A. L. Cox's 8th Dec 1903
Thomas Ray and Pheby Italy Ray his wife was married 2nd day of Nov. (1837?)
Addie A. Ray was married Jan 21, (yr unreadable) to John L. Groves.
There was a few more entries but are not readable.
Entries on another page:
Manda Southland died May the 22,1922 ( i do not know who this is)
Daniel or Davied (grandma's spelling was REAL bad) died Nov 17,1973
Ben Ray born 1830 died 1914
My great-grandma Rosa, daughter of Eva and Geo Lechler, was a great record
keeper. We have a journal that she kept that has every birth, death, mar. ect
in her family, from the time she married in 1902 until sometime after 1979
plus her ancestors. One of the neatest things in her bible are the pages with
her children's hand outlines, birth weight, and birth dates.
Hope this helps someone,
Linda
