First of all, Pollok was the originally spelling of Poage. I have some
early info but some generations are missing. It goes back into Ireland and
I think Scotland. Another spelling is Pogue.

1st generation: Robert POAGE, Sr., b ca 1708 Donegal, Ulster, N.Ireland? ,
d before 1774 in Augusta Co VA, m ca 1723 in Ireland? England? Elizabeth
PRESTON, d/o Archibald PRESTON. Elizabeth b ca 1705 in Donegal, Ulster,
N.Ireland? (or Derry?), d between 1755 & 1759 Augusta Co VA. Robert
immigrated to PA before 1737, in 1740 moved to Orange Co VA with 9 childrena
nd 16 families. He was Justice of the Peace when Augusta Co VA was formed.
They were members of Old Stone Presbyterian Church, Augusta Co VA. 10
children.

2nd generation: Sarah POAGE, b ca 1723 County Antrim, N.Ireland?, d before
1773 Rockingham Co VA?, m ca 1737 in PA? VA? to Thomas GORDON, Sr., he b
before 1718 in Ireland, d ca 1788 Rockingham Co VA. Revo War. 9 children.

3rd generation: Sarah GORDON, b 1746 Augusta Co VA, d 1806 Augusta Co VA, m
ca 1767 Augusta Co VA, James HOGSHEAD, Jr., s/o James HOGSHEAD, Sr. &
Elizabeeth DAVIS, James b ca 1746 Augusta Co VA, d 1801 Augusta Co VA. 7
children.

4th generation: Elizabeth Hogshead GORDON, b ca 1775 Augusta Co VA, d 1843
Augusta Co VA, m 1792 Augusta Co VA to John KERR, s/o James KERR & Jane
(Jean) --- (thought Robertson, not proven). John b 1765 Augusta Co VA, d
1830 Augusta Co VA. 2 children.

5th generation: Thomas Gordon KERR, b 1796 Augusta Co VA, d 1834 Pike Co MO,
m 1823 Augusta Co VA, to Margaret Johnston CALBREATH, d/o Thomas CALBREATH &
Jennet (Jane) HUTCHINSON. Margaret b 1802 Augusta Co VA, d 1887 Ashley Twp,
Pike Co MO. Thomas and Margaret had 5 children. Thomas & family on 1830
census Pike Co MO. As widow, Margaret on 1840 census Pike Co MO. Margaret
m 2nd 1850 Pike Co MO to Benjamin ELMORE, Jr., s/o Benjamin ELMORE, Sr. &
Mary "Polly" COBB.

Elmore descendants moved from Pike Co MO to Stanislaus Co CA in 1868, some
settled in Stanislaus Co CA and others went south to Madera Co CA and Fresno
Co CA.
