Hi,
Many thanks to Ed Foley for the tip about the Scots Origins.
I had better luck with a Scottish genealogist via snailmail. She found,
among other things, a transcript of a Sasine (something like a deed) that
identified Matthew's parents, brothers, and miscellaneous other family
connections. The parents were indeed Walter and Jean Campbell, he Captain
of Skipness.
The remaining problem is that we have no documentation to the effect that
the Londonderry/Fahan Matthew was the same as the Skipness Matthew.
