I'm new to this list, so forgive any mistakes I may make??

I'm a great granddaughter of James M. Ray/Rhea born in 1865 in TENNESSEE to a
"Will" Ray according to his death certificate of 1911, in Wagner, OK.
Mother's name unknown on death certificate. James M. Ray married Sophronia
Alice Smith in 1895 in Taney Co., MO. I've not found James M. Ray in that
county prior to the marriage.

#1. Family tradition:-) is that James M. Ray was "left behind as a young
teen, on the Mississippi (banks of) with two 'old maids' when his family
migrated on to ???"

#2. Family tradition:-))) That the family owned a great deal of land in
Memphis, TN and upon the decease of Will Ray, a portion went to James M. Ray.
When James M. Ray arrived in Memphis, the land had been claimed and built on
by others. My great grandmother blamed 'the lawyers' involved.

I don't know how true these old traditions are, I usually take traditions with
a grain of salt.

Does anyone on the list have any info for the Memphis, TN Rhea/Ray families?
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. My Uncle Vince and I are at a standstill on
this line.....

One other piece of info we have: There was a brother of James M. Ray by name
of George W. Rhea (George's spelling of the name).....

Thanks for everything!!
