My maiden name was RAY but I don't have much on the family.
I'll start with my father and work back:

Parents of Andrew: John Wesley RAY and Katherine Tunnecliffe (all I =
know about either parent)-----at least 3 children=20
Not much but I'm hoping someone can help fill in the blanks on the above =
people and help me stretch back further. =20
My father was 1/8 Cherokee and claimed that his Cherokee ggrandmother =
was married to a white preacher and had 3 daughters. At some point, the =
preacher left his indian wife and returned to his white wife, abandoning =
his indian family. The indian wife raised the 3 girls to be "white" and =
when the last one married, the woman returned to the reservation and =
remarried and then raised an indian family. The daughters by the first =
marriage tried to visit her but she wouldn't see them except to speak =
indian and tell them they were "white" and she was indian. My father =
claimed to have seen her when he was quite small but she wouldn't even =
acknowledge them.
If any of this sounds familiar, I'd sure appreciate some feedback as I'v =
searched for many years. My parents divorced when I was 3 and I only =
located and learned of my fathers death (when I was 12) about 5 years =
ago. I know he has living family in California and I have been in touch =
with them but not much info is known, just what I have above.
