Johnita: I'm sorry, the Monroe County Heritage book says nothing about
Abraham Sikes, other than that Mary "Polly" Sikes was his daughter.

However, here is some information in Reba Bayless Boyer's book, MONROE
COUNTY, TENNESSEE RECORDS 1820-1870, Vol. I, 1969:

Page 6: Jun 29 1839, marriage of Abraham Sipes to Lucinda Summett

Page 149: 29 July 1847, Monroe Co., TN Deed Book O, page #495: James
Sipes and wife Eliza formerly Mosier of McNairy Co. to Abraham Sipes of
same; their undivided 1/18 interest of land descending to Eliza from her
father Francis Mosier late of Monroe Co.

Page 150: Monroe Co. Deed Book O, 8 Dec 1852, page 496: William Sipes
and wife Molly formerly Mosier of McNairy Co. to Leonard Mosier of same;
their 1/18 interest descending from father Francis Mosier.

Page 150: Monroe Co. Deed Book O, 8 Dec 1852, page #497: Jackson
Mosier to Leonard Mosier, both of McNairy Co; his undivided 1/18
interest descending from father Francis Mosier.

Page 150: Monroe Co. Deed Book O, 8 Dec. 1852, page #498: Abraham
Sipes to Leonard Mosier, both of McNairy Co., the 1/18 part of land he
bought in deed on page 495, above.

Page 150: Monroe Co. Deed Book O, 6 Jan 1853, page 499: Leonard Mosier
of McNairy Co. to Phillip Mosier of Monroe Co.; three undivided shares
which he purchased.

My 4-great-grandfather, James Rhea, was in Washington Co., TN before
1796, then was in Blount Co., where he is believed to be buried in New
Settlements Cemetery near Maryville. My 3-ggfather, Jesse Rhea, son of
James Rhea and Mary Paul, married Margaret Blair, dau. of John Blair, in
1802 in Blount Co. Jesse and Margaret moved from Blount Co. to Monroe
Co., TN around 1834, when they bought a large farm on Cane Creek. The
property included a brick house which is still standing today, although
in terrible shape. It's the 2nd oldest brick house still standing in
Monroe Co. Margaret (Blair) Rhea died in 1851 and Jesse died in 1859.
They are both buried in Old Sink Presby. Cemetery near Tellico Plains,
Monroe Co. Jesse and Margaret had 14 children.

Several days ago I submitted to RHEA-L information on four generations
of the James/Jesse Rhea family, but was told by Pat that it was too long
and I should tell all subscribers not to download it. Did you by any
chance see that? It gives information on all the children of James Rhea
and his son Jesse Rhea. I have "oodles" of data on this family.

In addition, I'm also a descendant of another Rhea line, unrelated to
Jesse, as far as I have been able to determine: Robert Rhea, Jr., the
Rev. War soldier who married Mary Stephens, dau. of Jehu Stephens. They
lived in Pleasant Valley, east of Maryville, Blount Co.

Monroe Co., TN is "my heart's home," and I visit there as often as I
can.

Pat recently asked me to serve as team leader of the James/Jesse Rhea
group, and I haven't really had time to put together anything other than
the big 4-generation chart mentioned above. I hope to get something out
to RHEA-L soon.
