Hi cousins,

Would I be correct in guessing that I'm the only cousin descended from
Joseph Rhea/Ray and Nancy Northcross on this list? If so I won't "bug"
anyone for Northcross info but in the meantime I have to ask if any of
you recognize these Northcrosses of mine.

Richard Northcross, b. 1730, d. 8-27-1792 married Jane B.(may be Bell),
b. 1725 d. 9-28-1817. Land grant in Sussex Co., VA in 1746 signed two
ways - NORCROSS and NORTHCROSS. Served in the American Revolution and is
approved DAR patriot. Richard and Jane had the following children in
Sussex Co., VA:

1 - Susannah b. 1753
2- Joanna b. 1755
3 - Thomas, b. 1759 m. Hester McGlamre/McGlamory/McLemore
4 - William Wrenn, b. 1760
5 - James, b. 1765 (my line until proven otherwise)
6 - Rebecca, b. 1771
7 - Ephraim, b. 1772
8 - Frederick, b. 1775 (I know a cousin off this branch)

The above Thomas and Hester had:

1 - James, b. 1801 in VA, d. 1836 at the Alamo
2 - John Megamre (McGlamory, McLemore), b. 1799 at Sussex Co., VA m.
Sarah Larrison OAKS, b. 7-30-1809, they married at Henry Co., VA, died
Tippah Co., Mississippi
3 - Richard J., b. 1807
4 - Northern Nelms
5 - Sarah
6 - Elizabeth
7 - Marie

A few months ago I found a Gedcom for an Estelle Northcross, b. 1 Oct.
1873, d. 1878 at Bailey, Shelby County, TN. Her parents are listed as
James M. Northcross and Clarissa Sarah "Clary" Taylor. The Northcross
line does not go further back than James, but the Taylor side shows her
grandparents were Andrew Taylor and Clarissa Polk. Andrew's father was
Isaac, a doctor during the Rev. War, and Jane Cunningham.
Clarissa Polk's parents were William Wilson Polk and Elizabeth Davis
Dodd(s). William Wilson Polk's father was given as a Colonel in the Rev.
War named Ezekiel and his wife was Mary or Maria Wilson.

The above-named Estelle also had a brother named James M. Northcross,
Jr., b. 8 May 1879, d. 15 September 1957, buried Magnolia Cemetery,
Collierville, Shelby Co., TN.

Are there any Ray/Rhea researchers with ties to Shelby County, TN that
may recognize any of these Northcrosses?
