I'm helping my cousin search for her ancestor, Singleton B. Rhea, b. abt
1800 in E. TN or GA, m. Mary Henry 1823 in NC. Known children:

1. Pleasant M.G. Rhea b. 1824, Monroe Co., TN, m. Elizabeth
------- 1849. They had seven children, one of whom was Singleton B.
Rhea.

2. Rachel Ann Darcus (?Dorkas) Rhea b. 3 Feb 1830, Monroe Co., TN,
m. abt 1849 to Andrew Taylor Kephart, b. 1821 Dickson Co., TN. They had
eight children: Sons Robert Henry, James Fountain, Samuel Turk, and
Singleton Rhea Kephart. Singleton Rhea Kephart was b. 1854, died 1934
in Hanging Dog, Cherokee Co., NC.

All the children of Rachel Ann Rhea and Andrew T. Kephart are buried in
Hanging Dog Baptist Church Cemetery. Their son Robert Henry Kephart
made a provision in his will for the upkeep of the cemetery and church,
which he helped organize.

3. Sarah A. Rhea (not sure if this is a child of Singleton B. Rhea
and his wife Mary Henry), b. 1828 Monroe Co., TN

4. Samuel M. Rhea born 1836 Cherokee Co., NC. Was a CSA veteran
1861-1862, m. Tercy Malinda Chambers b. 24 Dec. 1839 in Habersham Co.,
GA. Elizabeth had a twin sister Elizabeth. Samuel M. Rhea and Tercy
Malinda Chambers m. 2 Apr 1856, in Blue Ridge, Fannin Co., GA.
Children: William T., Robert, John Mitchell, Andrew Singleton Rhea, b.
1876 Pointsette Co., AR. William T. Rhea may have died young. On one
census, Malinda is shown as having had one deceased child, and we can
find no records for either William T. or Robert.

Andrew Singleton Rhea was reared from about age 3 or 4 in Marshall Co.,
MS, where his father Samuel M. Rhea was discharged from Richmond, VA to
the 17th Mississippi Cavalry on 13 Jul 1862.

5. Hiram R.T. Rhea, b. 1838, Cherokee Co., NC. Could this be
Hiram Robert Turk Rhea???? Family researchers have thought he was a
Union soldier, but this was Hiram R.T. Ray.

1850 NC census shows Singleton and Mary Rhea and Hiram R.T. age 12 and
Samuel M. age 14.

Hope someone has information which will help us find these Singleton
Rheas. Many thanks from Polly D.
