Subject: [RHEA-L] Ancestral Roots of the Ray-Rhea-Rea Families
Date: Thu, 5 Feb 1998 12:12:26 EST
I have this soft bound rendering. It was published by Sandra K. Gorin, Gorin
Genealogical Publishing Co. Glasgow, Ky. in Feb. 1995
I was reading over it today, and thought it interesting that this was said.
This is from a letter, and it says that John Ray, Sr. died in Missouri in
1820, also that the Rays came early and in large families. All the pioneers
left off the "W" in their names. There were Tom, William, Joel, John and
Joseph
Check History of Cumberland County- Pioneer Genealogies by J. W. Wells, 1947.
Alot of this is letters, also deed records. I will be happy to do lookups for
you.
I think what is interesting and confusing to many including myself, is that
these Wray/Ray were located in the same county in Kentucky that the RHEA
family was , but the affiliated names do not match with any of mine.
Of course Rhea was sometimes spelled Ray.
This would be Cumberland Co. , Monroe Co. Barren Co.
