Six of Nancy Gray's thirteen children were: Robert, 1822, married (Mrs.)
Rachel Cunningham; James, 1832, married Julie (?); Clark, 1835, married Emily
Runyon; Margaret, 1837, married James Paddock; a daughter married Thomas Reed;
and another married J. W. Cook. All six were living in 1881.

James and Mary (Gray) Rhea's children: Ann I., June 15, 1822, married
Benjamin Glessner; Alexander, April 27, 1824, married Mary Ann Peters; John,
March 19, 1827, married Philura M. Day (Frank Foster, May 5, 1856, married
Leona King, and Emma, November 10, 1852, married George H. Kelley); Jehu,
October 16, 1829; Elizabeth, April 15, 1832, married David R. Doley; George
Washington, married Elizabeth (?); Nancy, his twin, September 17, 1834-August
13, 1902, married first Sylvanus Gordon, second Silas parks; Mary, May 29,
1838- January 12, 1866; and Mary's twin.

Children of Alexander and Sarah (Conger) Rhea: James Franklin, February 14,
1835; John Conger, September 19, 1836- August 8, 1913, married Elizabeth J.
Pollock; William Leander, November 11, 1840; Sarah Catherine, March 26,
1843-March 13, 1866, married Michael Pentecost; Robert Milton, April 25,
1848- October 20, 1919, married Sarah Elizabeth Harvey; Mary Evaline, July 4,
1851-August 12, 1875, married James W. Pottenger; Samantha Caroline, january
14, 1854- June 27, 1877, married Julius Lane.
Robert Milton and Sarah's children: Samantha Leora, July 4, 1869-December
24, 1878Rolander Everheard, February 25, 1873-July 1888; Orvie, February 29,
1884- May 14, 1958; and Royal Conger, November 22, 1874- August 27, 1942,
married Ida May Van Natta, September 14, 1881- Sept. 23, `1965. One of Royal's
five children, Jessie Ella Rhea, April 22, 1901-November 16, 1986, married
james Elmer Canaday, March 18, 1899-. Jessie Ella's daughter , Lois L.
Canaday, October 30, 1936, married Delbert R. Hupfer, January 19, 1936 and
lives in Denver, CO. Alexander and Sarah Rhea were among the original members
of the Paint Christian Church in 1840 and later joined the Concord Church were
he is buried. The author has no information on the families of Robert Rhea's
children Margaret, Almyra Ann, Jane Sample and Sarah.
Robert, Jr. and Catherine (Hornbaker) had four children: John William, July
7, 1837 - May 22, 1881, married Nancy Gard, March 30-1827- April 3, 1898;
harmonious, March 27, 1829- December 28, 1896, married Elizabeth Zimmerman
Button (harmonious, a Civil War veteran, died in Los Angeles, California);
Elizabeth, 1830-?, married John Button; and Elias B., 1833- ?, married Phoebe
Paddock.
John William and Nacy (Gard) Rhea were the author's great grandparents.
Nancy was the daughter of Levi, August 27, 1803- October 12, 1881, and Mary S.
(Jones) Gard, 1805-1864. Levi came to Preble County from Fayette County,
Pennsylvania, in 1812 with his parents, Simeon and Anna Gard, and abrother
Little John. They settled in Dixon Township. A grandfather, Jeremiah Gard, and
an uncle, Levi, preceeded Levi to Preble County. Mary S. was the daughter of
levi and Rachel jones who came to Preble County from North Carolina. Mary is
buried in the Winholt Cemetery in Dixon Township; Little John Gard and Members
of his family are also buried there.
