I have some differing information on John Rhea of Lincoln Co., TN.

I think that it unlikely he was the same John Rhea who married Sarah P.
Scales as that marriage took place too late (December 1827). John and Sally's
children were all born circa 1801 to 1820) A more likely possibility would be
the marriage of John Rhea to Sarah Harris March 8 1797 Grainger Co., TN. It
is also possible that a record of their marriage has not been found. John
Rhea was already in Lincoln County, TN by 1812.

I have not been able to prove that he was the son of Archibald Rhea and Jean
McCausland. It seems that he could be from the dates.

One of the problems with this Rhea family is that they used only a few names
so that there are several people with the same name.

Pleasant Vincent Rhea (1821-1901) was my ancestor. He supposedly fits into
John Rhea's family somewhere but he was probably not the son of John and
Sally Rhea.

Their son Pleasant Vincent Rhea moved to Washington Co., Arkansas and died
there circa 1864. He may have died in Virginia and been buried in AR, but it
seems unlikely to me. He was buried in the Old Burial Ground across from
Rhea Cemetery, P. V. Rhea 1803-1864). He was the first mayor of
Fayetteville.

There were at least 4 Pleasant Rheas at that time period.

1. Pleasant Rhea (circa 1824-?) - listed in the 1850 Census Murphy, Cherokee
Co, N. Carolina with his wife Elizabeth.

2. Pleasant Vincent Rhea (1803-1864) - listed in the 1830 Census Lincoln
County, TN moved to Washington County, Arkansas in 1830. Married Fannie White
circa 1823.

3. Pleasant Rhea (1819-1870), listed in the 1850 Census TN, 1860 Census TN,
1870 Census TN, Rhea County TN. Married Mariah Killough in 1840.

4. Pleasant Vincent Uriah Jackson Harrison Glenn Rhea (1821-1901), my
ancestor, listed in the 1850 Census Lincoln County, TN, 1860 Census Johnson
County, TX, 1900 Census Hood County, TX. He married Mary Elizabeth Fannin in
1845, Bedford County, TN.
