I was very interested in the posting by E Foley on the John S. Rhea family.
He mentions that John Rhea md Sarah Scales d/o Joseph Scales. The only
problem is that he did not marry Sarah Scales until 18 Dec 1827 in Davidson
Co, TN. This kind of shoots holes in the possibility that she is the mother
of his children born 1801-1820.

One more thing. William Bryson Rhea, John's son, has death date of 27 Feb
1861. The Fayetteville Observer, dated 31 JAN 1861 has his obit! Unless the
editor of the FO can see in the future, I would say he probably died 27 Jan
1861.

Until I located that marriage in 1827 I was sure that Sarah Scales was the
mother of John's children, but guess the search is still on. There are a
couple of other possibilities, but I don't know how good they are
---Magdaline Still 18 Oct 1800, Bath Co, VA and Mary Smiley 2 Jan 1801
Rockbridge Cop, VA. There are probably more around.
