<< I have been sorting NC Campbells for quite a number of
years and am really frustrated. My Campbells are
centered in the Bladen/Columbus/Robeson County area.
The prolific child-bearing, the redundancy of given
names, and the loss of tangible records have all
clouded my search. I know I'm not alone in this, but it
helps to blow off steam every now and then.

My immediate quest is, and has been for a long time, to
determine the parentage and birth place of one James
Campbell of Bladen County. His birth date is given on
his tombstone as 1751. He married Katherine Lamont,
dau. of Angus/Anguish Lamont of the same county in
April of 1786. When Katherine died after bearing
him a dozen children, he married Isabella Clark, who
bore him a daughter. He served as a Captain in the
Revolutionary War and died in 1842.

If any of you out there can shed any light on this
family, I would really appreciate the help. I have
pretty solid information on James, Katherine, and their
descendants, but very little on Katherine's lineage and
absolutely nothing on James' ancestry.

I am sending this message to my Rhea Discussion List. We have very close
contact with the name CLARK and also Campbell. Perhaps we can clear up some
info for ourselves as well as find some answers for you. You may hear back
from some one on the Rhea list.
