Pat,
Thanks for the information on where to look. If you don't mind, let me tell
you what I do have and maybe you could give a suggestions as to what to plan
next.
I know William H. Ray was a 20 year old laborer in 1850 from VA. (1850
census)
The marriage notation in March 1853 is-- William RAY and Harriot (sic) JAMES
(05 Mar 1853; her father [not named] consents; att[ested] by William
JOHNSON).
The 1860 census has Harriet born Kentucky no age.
I know they moved to Crawfordville IN sometime but not when and the kids
ended up in IL as adults.
I have not had any luck finding where William and Harriet are buried or where
they died.
Any suggestions for my next plan? I live in Georgia and don't have a lot of
opportunity to go to Ill to search.
Thanks in advance. Maybe your advice will help other beginners who are
stumped like me.
Diana
