this was provided to me by my cousin on the CRAIG line. She had access to the
Chronicles of the Scot Irish in Va. by Chalkley for a few days, and so she
sent me this.

Vol. 1 page 85 is the suit filed by John Rhea against William Rhea(his
father) heirs. Most of you have this already if not and you can't get to read

Jamison vs. Kelso--Michael Ayleshi, of Bath County, is about to remove to
Holstein. Andrew Kennedy and William Martin are about to remove to Kentucky,
1797. David Martin about to remove out of State. William Rhea and William
martin intend, 3rd September 1796, for Kentucky this fall.
Vol. 1,page 145- William Patton, aged 64 deposes, in Rockbridge, 7th October
1806, he has lived in Rockbridge 56 years since last may. After the
Revolution there was a rapid immigration from the North. James Wardlaw and
deponents father were intimate. James had a son Hugh and a son Robert. There
were Indian troubles for about 10 years. Fifty years ago there was a fort at
McClung; the last incursion was 43 years ago, when 16 or 17 people were
killed. Deponent helped bury them and they were attacked at the burial.
these were very early settlers, viz: James, Alexr. Saml. Walker, James
Moore, Saml. Coalter, Jno. Wallace, Archd. Rhea, James Rutherford, James
Buchanan, Andrew and Charles Hays. Deponent was born September, 1742.
McDowell was killed Christmas or New year's, after his birth.

page 140 Anderson vs. Rhea--O.S.179; N.S. 60--Bill 1813. Robert Anderson of
botecourt purchased land in Botecourt from William Rhea of Kentucky, which
was oiginally part of five tracts held by David Mitchell, who died twenty or
thirty years ago intestate, leaving heirs, vix: James Mitchell, his brother,
representatives of two sisters of whole blood, one named Brownlee and one
Tate, and either a sister of the half blood or her representatives. An
informal petition was made and 200 acres were allotted to Mrs. Brownlee's
representatives. William Rhea married one of the daughters of Mrs. Brownlee,
who had nine children entitled to distribution.

Thomas Turk Rhea vs. Turk--O.S.240; N.S.84 Orator is son of Margaret Rhea,
late Margaret Turk, one of daughters of Thomas Turk, Sr., of Augusta, who
died testate nearly 100 years old. Orator's father, John, moved to Tennessee.
Orator lived in Bath. Answer denies there was such a person as Thomas turk
Rhea.
