John RHEA (1776-1839) left a will which was probated in Lincoln Co. TN in
March 1839. In it he named his wife Sally and his children: William B. RHEA,
Mary B. RHEA, Susan M. RHEA, Brice M.G. RHEA, Altamira ISOM, Sally Ann
BROYLES, and Pleasant V. RHEA ; grandchildren: Rufus K. SMITH & Frances E.
SMITH, and Lewis, Grace, Dave & Chany ISOM.
According to Goodspeed's History of Washington Co. AR, 1889 -- Pleasant V.
RHEA mar. Fannie B. WHITE in Lincoln Co. TN. They moved to Washington Co. AR
in 1830, where he was a blacksmith and also taught school. He was the first
Alderman of Fayetteville AR and served until 1859. Pleasant Vincent RHEA,
b.1803 TN, d. 1864 AR, buried at Rhea's Mills, AR. His wife Fannie, b.1800 in
NC, d. 1889 in Washington Co. AR. They had seven children:
1- Elizabeth Ann RHEA (b.1824 TN, d.1907 AR) m. Daniel B. MASON (b.1820
AL, d.1904 AR). They had 9 children including my g-grandfather.
2- William H. RHEA (b.1825 TN, d.1884 AR) m. Elizabeth C. POWELL
(1836-1929). He owned and operated Rhea's Mill in Washington co. AR. They
had 10 ch.
He fought for the Confederates in the Civil War.
3- John H. RHEA (b.1827 TN, d.1896 in Mason City IA) taught for a time in
Old Arkansas College in Fayetteville AR. He then became a Methodist minister
and moved his family north with the Civil War broke out.
4- Sarah A. RHEA (b.1833 AR) m. Samuel A. CRAIG in the 1860's.
5- John G. RHEA (b.1838 AR) m. Clementine Golden CRAWFORD (1836-1870) in
Nov 1868 in Washington County AR. They had a son named Jimmy.
6- Catherine RHEA was b. 1842 in Washington Co. AR
7- Robert J. RHEA was b. 1861 at Rhea's Mills, AR. He d. 1913.

I would like to exchange info with anyone researching any of these lines. I
do have more data but this is a rough outline to find out if anyone is
interested in this particular branch. I do not have any info further back
than this. There seems to be a general connection to families in NC and,
before then, Alabama. But I do not know where in NC. Do you? Is this
branch related to the RHEA family buried in Sullivan Co. TN?
