Robert name was a very familiar name in the Rhea family, and many of the
descendants of the different Robert Rhea's used the name Robert. I have never
heard that story, but then that doesn't mean anything either. I'd say your
chances of finding that name have improved since you joined the list.

do you have any documentation, census records, marriage birth, death.

First start with yourself and record birth, m. children, then go to your
father and mother and do the same, and at least back four generations. then
gather all the documentation that you can. then go another few generations
and do the same. Check co histories, to see if any of the family were the
first settlers. check land records. etc. Some confederate records are
available. check at your local library for locations.
In Missouri you need to write to Jefferson City, Mo. I sent to the National
Archives in Wash. D. C. not knowing where those records were kept. My man was
in Jackson Co. Mo. I was able to find out the company he served in and when
he died supposedly. But they said if I wanted more of a record I could write
to Jeff City.
I never did. I knew what happened tohim. He deserted and rode with
Quantrill. Whole other story.(My husbands side.)
