RE: Doyle Baker's chart of Archibald and Margaret Campbell Rhea.
Misconceptions were made many years ago and passed down to all of us. It has
taken alot of work, to make it right. If you read, and I suggest copying the
Bath Co. Bicentennial article, summary and intro. you will see that.:
Archibald Rhea b. 1720 was one of the three sons belonging to Archibald Rhea
I .
Archibald Rhea m. to Margaret Campbell, was William Rhea and Elizabeth
Clark's son.
Here is how the chart should look
Archibald Rhea b. abt. 1747-48 d. 1773-74 in Augusta Co. Va. m. Margaret
Campbell
Children: Hugh Rhea b.? in Aug. CoVa.m. Rebecca Smiley, and betsy Beck
William Rhea b. ?m. Jean Litteral
John Rhea b.? m. Mary Smiley
Ref. 66 says Augusta Co., VA Will Book 5, 196-198. Will of Archibald
Reah/Reagh Jr., son of William. Dated November 1, 1773, recorded March 15,
1774. Mentions his "dear children," and names his wife, Margaret, and "my
Uncle Archibald Reah" executors. Witnesses were William Rhea, Michael
Coulter, and James Clark. Margaret and Archibald were bonded to make an
inventory of the "
singular goods and chattles and credits of the said deceased."
Ref. 67. page 2 of Robert Rhea's Family Bible. Son of William and Elizabeth
(Clark) Rhea. Father William Rhea departed this life the 25th April 1802.
Brother Archibald Rhea departed this life the 5th October 1773. This was
obviously wrong date.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------
Now the Archibald Rhea who was also married to a Margaret, was Robert Rhea's
son. This Robert was a brother of William Rhea, m. to Elizabeth Clark.
Here is how his would look. Archibald and Margaret:
Children:
Archibald Rhea m. 1st. Ann Humphreys (no children)
2. Catherine Sevier
************
William Rhea m. to Elizabeth Brownlee and Mary Gay--he was William and
Elizabeth Clark' Rhea's son.
Hope this helps some.
Since I have printed the Summary and intro. I think I should print the
documentation. also for those of you who have joined recently and probably
have not received all of the article. Let me know what you have received, and
I will forward to you the missing pages. When copied on your printer,
without summary and intro. It will come to 9 pages. If you don't have a
printer, then I will send it to you e-mail for cost of postage.
