I am looking for information including parantage of my gg grandfather.
William H. Ray (Rea)
married in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio March 3,1853 to Harriet James
(Scioto county marriage ledger) William Johnson attested that her father
consented.
1850 Census has him living with innkeeper, 20 years of age and born in VA -
1860 census has Harriet born in Kentucky. (possibly Green up cnty,?)
Their children: Frank Ray, Nicholas H. Ray, Ada Ray, Josiah Ray, William H
Ray, Jr.
Some or all of the family lived in IN for a short time and ended up in and
around Decatur, IL where most of their grandchildren are buried.
I have some information on Ada Ray and her children. I have the descendants
of present of Josiah Ray. Please let me know if you have a possible
connection for his parents (Rays of Virginia) . I will be glad to share what
information I have.
