I have that Rev. James Campbell Monument at Cape Fear, N.C. native of
Campbellton , Argylshire Scotland rests near this spot. d. in 1780, 75 years
of age and 50th yr. of ministry. Organized Bluff, Long Street and barbecue
Churches Oct. 18, 1758. Duncan Ray was one of the earliest elders of Long
Street Church. I got this off the internet on Cape Fear, N.C. might also
check Bladen Co. N.C. I think this was a Presbyterian Church. But it does
prove that there were Rhea's or Ray's there.
Myself and my researcher are getting close to thinking maybe they did not
come into the colonies as Ray's, but as Campbell's. Since that's what they
were in Scotland. They came over from Ireland.
