Duck:
I upgraded my old computer from a 14.4 to a 28.8 bps modem. I just
pulled the existing and replaced it with the 28.8. If you can't remove the
existing modem and have placed the new one in an open slot, there is no
problem; you are just are commiting one slot to some thing that is not
functional.
Do you have Family Tree Maker loaded. If not, I could send you my files
and you could load them. Since I use an antivirus program, you would not
have to worry about any virus infecting your computer. I receive a lot of
information from material that a Pat Hall sends out. She coordinates
genealogy on the Rhea family. I have been able to use some of the material.
If you would like to subscribe, it free, try ,pop.indiana.edu. I
think this is how I signed on. The material that I can not use is just
deleted. I make a hard copy of the material that appears useful.
Pat recently sent me some very useful information on the RHEA's. If you
want, when you are here I could make a copy of my Genealogy file. Since some
of the data would not apply to you or Jill, you could go through and delete
it. I currently have over 600 names. I am not sure what the actual count is
as I have not checked it since the computer told me that I had 600 names.
Let me know what you want to do. I entered Pat's information last night
and ran the error check on Family Tree Maker. There are about 5 to 6 errors
that I need to correct. It should not be much of a task to make these
corrections as there related to birthday dates of the parents and children
being to close.
I offered to sell my old computer, which was a 386DX40 to Kirk, since what
he has does not have much capability. Juanita bought it from me, but has not
used it and indicated she would sell it for what she paid. It would be a
good deal for Kirk. Its his decision.
I will pick Rachel up after work tomorrow. She will spend three full
days with us, and return to Califorina Sunday afternoon. She is in the
process of changing jobs. The firm she went with gave her $3,000 per more
than she asked. I would say Sun Microsystem wanted her, to do so. She is
now making more than I did when I retired. Last year Rachel and Mark really
had a good year; his income is down some this year, but is still way more
than we ever made.
Are you going to beable to drop by on April 5. Let us know. Maybe we
could go out for dinner together or something.
