Subject: Sources for the Early English Ancestors

I have read and heard a lot about the Quarles in England prior to the year
1600, but I haven't been able to track down any of the source documents. The
info I've run across in the various genealogy periodicals of Virginia are, for
the most part, merely written inferences and hearsay without reference to
original documentation. They are interesting but often contradictory. The
contradictions may be a result of differing interpretations of the same source
documents, or may be as a result of having used different sources. If there
are any replicas of source documents available online, that would be
convenient, but I'm willing to spend some time in a library or with the Postal
Service. If any of you are willing to point me toward some of these original
sources, I would be very appreciative.
