Hi Margie,

The age of a person in a census is approximate. Sometimes it's way off and
sometimes not. The 1901 census had everyones birthdate; not just their age.
Again, sometimes these are right-on and sometimes not. And their could be
various reasons for that. Miscommunication about the person the enumerator
was writing about, deliberate misinformation on the part of the person being
asked,[sometimes they didn't want to answer either] language barrier, even
a confused enumerator [in one town I used to work on the enumerator was most
defineately a little daft].
So in the 1901 census George-Henry Heney was born December 21, 1876. If
that is accurate, he didn't turn 18 until after his marriage which took
place in November.
Fannie's birthdate on the census was August 14, 1875 - born in England
immigrated in 1888. I've seen many marriage records with a "major"/ "minor"
goof. And her birthdate on their might not even be right.

Good morning , Deb, Doreen, & Jackie
Just opened up for the day & reviewed all the good news I received
yesterday. Many thanks to all three of you for helping find Fanny's baby
and so quickly too. I have been searching on my own for weeks with no luck.

One thing I didn't get that one of you mentioned was the 1891 census where
it had Henry George Haney down as age 16. Henry was born in 1873 which
would make him 18 that year.. right ? This would have made him 21 when he
married Fanny in 1894. not a minor after all.

>From what I understand, Fanny was able to keep her baby for a few months at

least. The baby was born in September 1888 and baptized in December that
same year & registered with Fanny's signature as Mother.

So this means the baby was probably adopted shortly after that in 1889
perhaps. I hope I'm not asking too much but could someone please look up
in the 1891 census to see if either of these two families acquired a baby
girl one way or the other that year or the year before. I'm thinking
perhaps the employer who's son raped my Gran might have adopted the baby .,
after all it would have been their grandchild right ? Here are the names.
Mrs. Wales St. Andrews (east) P.Q.
Mr. Norman McKay.. Glen Nevis P.Q. Glengarry. Co. Ont.

Your help is much appreciated and please if I'm asking too much of you just
let me know.
Thanks so much.
Regards
Margie
