a lot of Beausoleil families came from Joliette & Berthier
counties.....the town could be St-Cuthbert frenchy pronounciation could sound like
"San-Q-bet"

There's also a St-Hubert "san-u-bet" in Chambly county

Hello,
I'm researching Elijah Beausoleil/Bosely, who is recorded in Rockingham,
Vermont as having been born in "Sanebit, Canada," around 1840. His wife,
Louise Grignon, was from "Stanbridge, Canada." I found Stanbridge, Quebec
but, as I expected, I can't find a Sanebit. I am guessing that this is an
anglicized version of a town that is phonetically like it if one speaks
French, such as St. Habit.

Does anyone know of a town or former town or parish that sounds in English
like Sannabee, Sannabit, Sanaybit.? My first guess is that it would be in
Quebec, as they were said to be French Catholics. Thank you for any
assistance!
