I have new information on my Allen BUTLER family. Does anyone see any
Allen Butler (b. between 17 Sep 1798 and 16 Sep 1799) died 16 Sep 1852, aged
53 (per his gravestone in Newport Center, Orleans County, VT); a newspaper
lists him age 52, of Newport, Orleans County, VT.
Allen likely had a brother, Chester Butler, who d. Newport 2/14/1876, age 74
(b. between 15 Feb 1801 and 14 Feb 1802).
Allen's wife was Lauris H. (gravestone in Newport Center VT)/Laurice LAMPHER
(per daughter's 1922 death certificate)/ Laura Ida Lampher (per son's 1876
death certificate). She was b. CT (per 1850 census about 1801) and d. 1856
(age 53 per gravestone).
They lived in Sheldon, Franklin County, Vermont, in 1820, with no children.
By 1830, in Enosburgh, Franklin County, Vermont, they had five children. By
1840, they had had at least six children and at least seven by 1850:
A.Son, b. 1820-1825.
B.Son, b. 1820-1825.
C.Harriet Butler, b. 12 May 1823, who married Peter CONNAL (b.
Scotland) of Newport Center, d. 2 May 1890, age 67.
D.Daughter, b. 1825-1830.
E.Daughter, b, 1825-1830.
F.Chester Butler, b. (born 1829, lived in Newport, m. 7 Jun 1852 in
Bolton PQ to Angeline JENNESS (daughter of Solomon), d. Enosburg 14 Feb
1876, age 47.
G.Chastina Butler, b. 5 Mar 1832, m. Reuben NILES (son of Samuel),
lived Newport Center, d. 16 Jan 1922.
H.Cloe Butler, b. c. 1834.
I. Harmon Butler, b 6 Aug 1838 (per his gravestone); he died 25 Aug
1908. He married 1st Eliza S. CALHOUN (b. 26 Dec 1842 to Alonzo Calhoun of
MA, d. 19 Apr 1865, age 23). He m. 2nd Julia Ann SARGENT (d. 16 Oct 1874,
age 45), daughter of Enoch Jefferson Sargent of Quebec. Harmon had at least
two children, Ernest and Jay (b. 29 Jun 1871).
J.Sanford O. Butler, b. between Jun 1844 (per 1850 census) and 5 Apr
1845, d. 5 Apr 1898, age 53 (per gravestone in Newport Center VT).
