Here is the Obit of someone who had a great influence in giving me the
genealogy bug. She wasn't related to me -- at least I haven't found a link
yet --- but she was married to my grandmother's 1st cousin (he was my 1st
cousin 2x removed). I felt a closer kinship to her than I did with many of
my own 1st cousins.
Fleurette Marguerite WHISSELL
Born February 15 1918 in St-Andre-Avellin, Ripon Twp., Quebec
Married Sep 24 1838 St-Jean-de-Brebeuf, Sudbury, Ontario
Wilfred TREGONNING (born Russel Cyril BELANGER)
Adopted son of Joseph TREGONNING & Marie LEBEAU

1st studied at "Ecole Ste-Marie" and "St-Louis De Gonzague" in Sudbury.
She attended "Le Couvent Notre-Dame De Lourdes" in Sturgeon Falls.
And also at "Le Couvent Notre-Dame" in Ottawa.
She worked as a Legal Secretary for various lawyers and was
Admissions Superintendant of St-Joseph's Hospital from 1964 til 1967.
After her retirement, she wrote numerous historical and genealogical books.

TREGONNING, Marguerite (née Whissell) author The family announces with
sorrow her death, Monday, October 11, 2004, in Sudbury at the age of 86
years. Daughter of the late Adorice and the late Yvonne (née Nault) Whissell
and stepdaughter of the late Joseph Mailloux. Wife of the late Wilfred
Tregonning. Loving mother of Wilfrid, Yvonne (late Valéry Maillet), Laurent
(Karen), Juanita Langdon (Robert), Diane Thibault (Raymond), Johanne and
François all of Sudbury. Predeceased by her brothers Adorice Whissell (late
Alice) and Alphonse Mailloux (Rose-Mai of Sudbury). Sadly missed and
lovingly remembered by 5 grandchildren James, Dominique (Pierre Tremblay),
Guy, André (Helen), Roxanne, and 2 great-grandchildren Jacob and Sébastien.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at
the CO-OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. E. (at Notre Dame),
Sudbury, Wednesday from 2-5 and 7-9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be
held Thursday 10:30 am in St. Jean de Brébeuf Church, Sudbury. Donations to
the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
