Subject: [QUEBEC] DESPRES/LALORE

I keep hoping against hope to find some clues to the BMD of my 12GG,
Catherine Despres. All of the databases that I've checked refer to her having
been born in London but Dumas refers to her daughter as having "une mere
francaise". Was she of French birth but married and died in London? By what
route did her daughter, Catherine Delalore, become the only fille-du-roi to
make it from London to France to New France? Was it because she still had
relatives in France? Might she have been related to Madeleine Despres who
arrived the year before?
With that in mind, I checked (through LDS film) for likely births in France
during that time period. I came up with only one Catherine DESPRES but in a
family that intrigued me (LDS Film #0908858 for St-Pierre in Chenille-Change,
Maine et Loire):
BAPTISMS: child of:
22/31/1632 Jeanne Maurille DESPRES and Jeanne
1/11/1634 Maurille "
18/9/1633 Rene "
1/10/1629 Catherine "
23/9/1639 Aselme "
20/3/1636 Denis "
5/12/1635 Jeanne "
What intrigued me was that there is no record of any other DESPRES birth,
death or marriage after 1639 in that parish although I checked through to
1792. They might have moved to another parish, of course, but I can't think
of any way to check to see if they might have emigrated to England.
If anyone has any thoughts or sources to help me continue in my pursuit of
the elusive Catherine, I'd really appreciate hearing about them.
