Hi,
Martha's comments were top-drawer, and you seem to want to learn. That's why
I'll take a minute to ask a question and make a suggestion. If your people
ever went back to Canada to visit any time after 1895, check the St. Alban's
lists. These are on microfilm and available through your FHC. The indexes
are multi-part, so you have to order the appropriate index reels first. If
they were not yet naturalized US citizens, they had to register at the
border when coming back into the US. The information is very good and can
lead you to other records such as where they went to visit (likely their
"old" area of residence). To understand how to use these records most
efficiently, read Connie Potter's article in Prologue. I'll dig up the
citation (having some problems getting into computer files right now) and
post it later.
