Hi Angela.....
Am just getting to really read yesterday's digests -there were three! first
time that's occurred, I think....isn't it great?!
I see Pennie gave you some really worthwhile direction re Rossignol ; if you
haven't already, you might want to visit my site - just ignore the 'mess' on
first page. I don't have '61 (there is no '51 or '41) census for Bonaventure
Cty, which is where they & your Harvey would likely be, since that's closest to
N.B., but you just might find a 'cousin' or two by Browsing thru' the register
on my site....plus do check out the links -esp Bonaventure Genweb, Garrett,
-skip Sunny Bank -won't be there- plus check GSBC - nothing searcheable, per
se, but can buy transcripts & they offer 'for fee' 'lookups', research, if you
ever want to go that route. I'm mostly 'into' Gaspe Cty,.since that's where my
lines are, what I know best; I'll check next time I'm in Gaspe census re
Rossignol - think they're there too & let you know....or jog my memory...also
if the Chan Is (Jersey) connection was 'new' to you & you want to persue that
at all you might wanna see CASA in my 'more links' for "Gaspe Ch Is Soc" page
in their links & also there's a great Ch Is mail list , if that's of interest.
Ch Is'ers began emigrating to that area - Gaspe & Maritimes - in 1760s when cod
fishery business started up, but more came in late early-mid 1800s, so timing
could be about right for you.
"To subscribe to CHANNEL-ISLANDS-D, send a message to:
that contains in the body of the message the command subscribe"
Hope some of this gives you a few new leads to persue...good rootin'
Martha
p.s.....Couldn't resist...just had a quik peek at '25 & '31 census for both
Gaspe & Bonav. -didn't see any (which doesn't guarantee they aren't there;
just did a scim..)Rossignols at all -which might bode well for them being Ch Is
origin - but did notice one Harvey :
1831 Meuleset Ruisseau ( Magdalen Islands) HARVEY, Francis, fisherman, 7 in
hsehld , Roman Catholic.('31census is head of hsehld only)
Also...just thought....if you do check the register on my site you might wanna
watch for Irene Doyle & see her site -Fantastic for northern N.B.
