Hi Kelly and Lew;
Lew, you're quite right so far as the town of Madawaska is concerned. But
that entire region of New Brunswick, the finger which juts out between
Maine and Québec, together with the adjoining regions in Maine and Québec,
is known collectively as the Madawaska, named for one of the rivers in the
area, a tributary of the St. John, which is a well known spawning ground of
the Atlantic Salmon. Thus, Madawaska, Québec could indicate that part of
the region which lies in the Province of Québec.
Cheers!
Malcolm
