Jean,

My SYKES family moved from Sophiasburg, Prince Edward County, Ontario
to Dane County, WI in 1855 by way of Buffalo, NY. I found this
tidbit, by ACCIDENT, when searching the Dane County, WI records at
the Wisconsin State Historical Society. Delavergne SYKES signed his
Declaration of Intention in Buffalo and then took his oath for
naturalization later in Dane co.
