FYI - Elliot Lake, Ontario in Algoma district on the Canadian Shield is 3 hours drive from Sault Ste Marie, Ontario and 7 hours drive from Toronto. Originally it was an Objibwa village. The discovery of Uranium opened several mines and the town developed around that industry in the 1950's. The population in 2011 was a little less than 11,500 souls.
