Subject: [Q-R] Cemetery Report: Aug 12, 2011 "No Eliphants at Hannibal"
Date: Sat, 10 Sep 2011 16:38:02 -0400 (EDT)

5:29AM brings me to Hannibal Village Cemetery and its much to early, no sun
yet so I'll have to sit back until there's enough light to see by.
As its still very dark I did notice an oddity while driving through the
Village, someone has a full size Christmas tree up in they're house and its
well lit. Hmmmmmmmmm how many days till Christmas??
Its 5:48AM and there is just enough light now to get started. But, I don't
see any elephants, where are Hannibal's eliphants?

Some history is pretty funny and sometimes gross, well, here is one I want
to share with you. Some people thought keeping farts in a jar could ward
off the Black Death. 1348-1350 it killed around 1.5 million people in
Britain. Since it was believed at the time the plague was caused by deadly
vapours, it therefore made sense that other foul smells might help to ward off the
disease. Doctors and quacks of the time suggested using our own farts.
Rather than waste the precious pungencies people were instead advised to store
their farts in jars, which could then be opened and inhaled the next time
the deadly pestilence appeared in the neighbourhood. Damn, isn't
history fun............................LOL Should we all start saving them up
for future plagues?????????????? LOL

Have a wart? Here's the recipe for getting rid of one by passing it on to
the dead. Well, it was said you could sell or give away your wart also, that
was probably a bad business venture. But, to pass it on to the dead, you
would have to throw a stone after a funeral procession or rub the wart while
the funeral procession passed, or collect some mud from the mourners shoes
and apply it to the wart.

If you remember a few years ago I did Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Rochester
N.Y. which took me ten days. I found a significant figure there "Jack the
Ripper" AKA Dr .Francis J. Tumblety/Tumaulty from White Chapel, England. He
is now said to have also taken part in some way, in the assassination of
President Lincoln, but never charged. This character seems to be growing with
History. In England he was one of the four figures that Scotland Yard had
as a main suspect. Course when he left England, the murders there stopped
and then started in Rochester.

Back in 1816, thanks to a large breasted female the stethoscope was in
vented. French physician Rene Laennec found himself faced with a patient whose
generous embonpoint made such an inspection unfeasible. Laennec had an
idea, perhaps aided by the fact he also played a flute. He rolled up a few
pieces of paper, fashioning a rudimentary stethoscope, through which he could
listen to the girls heartbeat from a safe distance, without having to go
near any breasts.
