Subject: [Q-R] What is a Fille du Roy - criterias of inclusion
Date: Thu, 09 Jun 2011 14:37:15 -0400

Dear listers,

It's been a little quiet on the list. We all seem to be on stand-by
until Father John gets back.

So I thought this would be as good a time as any to put your skills at
work... :-)

Oh! don't worry. Nothing too strenuous.

But I would like to hear your opinions, thoughts, comments, as to what
YOU think the definition of a "Fille du Roy" should be.

In other words, what criteria YOU think should be used to determine if a
female immigrant came to New France as a "Fille du Roy" or not.

Seems rather straightforward until you actually set out to do it. And
please, don't quote from historians and websites. This exchange is all
about what YOU think the definition should be.

I'll give you a hint to start you off: All "King's Daughters" were
"Marriageable women", but not all "Marriageable Women" were "King's
Daughters"

Cheers,

Mona
