Joan, the 1851/52 Census isn't as complete as we would like to think; many records just didn't survive; I did not find your Fitzsimmons family in the existing Census.



However, on checking the 1861 for Grenville county I found several Fitzsimmons listed one after the other as follows:



Canada West > Grenville > Township of Oxford - Ancestry image 625



FITZSIMMONS

>" John - born IRE - RC - age 52 - farmer

>" Mary - age 50

>" Hugh - born UC - RC - age 21 - Labourer

>" Mary - " age 20

>" Patrick - " age 19

>" Elizabeth - " age 17

>" James - " age 15

>" John - " age 13

>" Henry - " age 11

>" Margaret - " age 5





I did not find Catherine in Grenville; perhaps she was married by this time. Ontario birth records don't begin until 1869 so could not check for that.
