On July 21, 1697, Annetje (full given name Anna Marija) a young damsel, daughter of Christian Christiaanszoon and Marijke (full name Marija) Ysbrant-Elders of the Corlaer neighborhood of Fort Orange, was joined in holy matrimony with Moses De Puis, a young man from Canada, also residing in Fort Orange. The expressions "young damsel" and "young man" do not refer to the age of the bride and groom but to the fact that neither had been married.

Not to put too fine a point on it: It is father's family name that was abbreviated "Christiaansz. Annetje's surname would have been rendered "Christiaansdotter".
