Subject: [Q-R] Question about baptism dates

I find some of my ancestor's Drouin records state that they were born and baptised on the same day. (the latest batch is in Ste. Felicite in 1850's-1870's)

How exactly did that work back then? Did the priest find out that a baby was born and go to the home? Did the mother actually go to the church on the day she gave birth? Are these dates recorded accurate?

Just curious.......
