Translation of the record:

On October twenty-fourth, Eighteen Hundred Ninety Seven, having seen
the dispensation of two banns of marriage granted two days previously
by Monsignor Cyrille Legare, Vicar General, and the publication of the
third done from the pulpit of this parish, between Mr Francois Dumas,
shoemaker/c
obbler, adult son of Mr Treffle Dumas and of Mrs Rosalie
Bresse, of this parish, on the one hand; and Miss Azilda Nadeau, adult
daughter of Mr Felix Nadeau and Mrs Marie Paradis, also of this parish,
on the other hand; having discovered no impediment to their marrige, I,
priest undersigned, pastor of this parish, received their mutual
consent to marriage, and gave them the nuptial blessing, in the
presence of Mr Treffle Dumas, father of the groom, who signed with the
spouses and with me, and of Mr Felix Nadeau, father of the bride, who
declared that he was unable to sign. Reading was done.

Comment: The usual form of address for a man in French is Monsieur, for
a married woman, Madame, for an unmarried woman, Mademoiselle. Father
Belanger uses a form not at all uncommon in the late 19th century,
omitting the "Mon" or "Ma" from the names of the spouses and their
parents, and writing only Sieur, Dame, and Demoiselle. A close
inspection also indicates that he misspelled the given name of the
bride, since she signs her name Ezilda, not Azilda Nadeau. I presume
she knows her name better than the pastor, don't you?

  MERRY CHRISTMAS----
  I have another request that I am not sure what the meaning is, so I
am hoping
someone here can help me.
  In a Marriage Record in St. Roch it says Sieur Treffle Dumas--Why
would they
use Sieur in this document.  I have never come across this title
anywhere in my
research before.  Also, what is a Cordormier? If anyone can help, I
would
greatly appreciate it, and if you need to look at the document it is
