Paul,

I'm assuming you're talking about Sherbrooke down on the Vermont border? If
so, I have also run into the problem of missing years in the Sherbrook
registers. The same gap shows up in Drouin; or the possibility that I've
not found them yet.

Cheers,
Kevan

The Family History Library website has the following note about its holdings
for Sherbrooke Cathedral -

"Autrefois connue sous le nom de Saint-Colomban-de-Sherbrooke.
Saint-Colomban gardera ce nom jusqu'en 1855, année où cette paroisse prendra
le nom de St-Michel-de-Sherbrooke".

Also, the FHL (at www.familysearch.org) now has free images of the Quebec
registers under the "record search pilot site" for Canada-Quebec-Catholic
marriage records, 1621-1900

The ones for Sherbooke have two pages of 1851 and then blank pages until
1852, with a small note attached, in French, headed in the name of
Basilique/Cathedral Saint Michel de Sherbrooke, (on p. 72, in image
searching).
My understanding of French is not great, but the jist is that despite a
search in the parish and civil records, no further pages of the 1851 records
have been found.  Another note a few pages previous, in legalistic English
seems to acknowledge an earlier receipt by civil authorities of records from
the "Mission of Saint Columban."

I'm interested in finding a baptism record for Charles Henri Beaulieu who
was born 6 January 1849 and should have been baptized at St. Michel's
Cathedral in Sherbrooke. He was the fourth of nine children. I have the
baptisms for six of his eight siblings, all of whom were baptized at St.
Michel.

The Drouin on Ancestry doesn't show the years 1851 or 1853 under St.
Michel. Is anyone familiar with the history of this Church? Is it possible
that during those years, baptisms were performed at another Church for some
reason. A province wide search on Ancestry doesn't show his baptism either.

I have seen references to the BMS database and wonder if that is a separate
source. Can anyone help me find a baptism record for Charles? His parents
were
Marc Beaulieu and Maria Willard.

Many thanks,

Elizabeth
