Wow.  Excellent information.  Thank you.  Humph!  But back to peg one on the birth parents of my g-grandfather, Adolphe Pepin.  I'm not sure, but I think my Pierre Pepin was b. c. 1795.  I have a death record from the St. Anne book, Grand Calumet Island, PQ.  It doesn't give too much information but here's what it says:
 
PEPIN, Pierre [...?...] Franktown ...d. ?...bur. Jan. 2, 1871 76 years
 
I have PEPIN/PAPIN ancestry at St. Anne's and St. Elizabeth's of Hungary, PQ.  My g-grandparents, Adolphe Pepin & Jane McCoshen were married at St. Anne's RC in 1867.  And my grandmother, Marie Adelaide nee Pepin,  was born in Litchfield, PQ in 1868.  So I thought maybe this Pierre might fit in with my line.  Not sure but still checking.
 
This morning I was searching Drouin for Pierre Pepin's baptism c. 1795 but haven't found anything close yet.  And I've been trying to find the baptism for Adolphe Pepin b. c. 1839.  I have his brother's baptism, Azarie Pepin, Mar. 13, 1843.  Dang, I forgot to write down the parish.  It says his parents are from Aylmer. I'll find it. I saved the record in My Pictures.
 
So, here I am.  I don't know what to do about this PEPIN line in Canada.  I'm guessing they could be listed under a Dit.  I need to go back through the list of Dits to figure out where to start.

May I have a lookup, please?

Mona at our Q-R list gave me the names Pierre PEPIN Dit LACHANCE and Catherine (Henriette) LEFEBVRE Dit BOULANGER who married Feb. 1, 1813, Saint-Henri parish, Levis, QC.

Would someone please see if the following four persons are listed as their children?

Adolphe PEPIN, b. c. Dec. 1839; mar. Jane MCCOSHEN
Azarie PEPIN, Mar. 13, 1843, Aylmer, QC; mar. Elisabeth BELANGER
Israele PEPIN, b. c. 1845; mar. Mary-Jane AYOTTE
Marie Philomene PEPIN, b. Jan. 23, 1849; mar. Benjamin BEAUCHAMP

I have the marriage records for the above. But I need to know who their parents are. The marriages and/or baptisms I have found so far show Pierre PEPIN & Henriette BELANGER---no Dits mentioned in these records. But I believe Mona may be accurate about the Dits above being the parents I'm looking for. I just need to prove it with the children..
