Donald E. Marlow
BURKE -- Donald E. Marlow, 92, of County Route 23, Burke, N.Y., died
Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his loving family and
Hospice of the North Country.
Born in Malone, N.Y., Sept. 18, 1916, he was the son of Edward and Zella
(Sament-Ste-Amere) Marlow.
He was married to Ernestine H. Trim Oct. 26, 1936, at St. Edmund's
Church, West Bangor, N.Y., by Rev. Cornish. She predeceased him Sept.
11, 2004, after 68 years of marriage.
Mr. Marlow owned and operated the Marlow Family Farm in Burke and was a
carpenter for many years. He was a communicant of St. Georges Church,
Burke and a member of the Burke and Pomona Granges. In years past, he
attended the Burke Adult Center.
Mr. Marlow is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and
Robert Southworth of Burke, Karen and Bruce Mills of Wolcott; seven
grandchildren and their spouses, Brian and Denise Southworth of Malone,
Craig Southworth of Burke, JoAnn Southworth of Plattsburgh, Julie and
Christopher Stalker of Chazy, Kelly and David Southworth of North
Bangor, Terri and Mark Stewart of Pine Bush, Lisa and Joe Cole of Lyons;
10 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Louise Marlow of Malone;
several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his parents; a son, Anthony; a
daughter, Helen; five brothers, Robert, Leroy, Louis, Leo "Leward" and
Percy Marlow; two sisters, Mildred McCarthy and Gladys Waldren; a
grandson, Bruce Southworth; great-grandsons, Shawn and Brandon Stewart.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Donations in his memory may be made to Burke Adult Center or Hospice of
the North Country.
Arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
