Today the 7th of October 1839, after the publication of three banns of
marriage, made during consecutive parish masses, between Jean Olivier
Sauvage, farmer, son of age of Isaac Sauvage and Marie Desrochers of
this
parish on one part and Rose Delphine Vernier dite Ladouceur, minor
daughter
of Joseph Vernier dit Ladouceur, farmer and Victoire Leroux also of
this
parish on the other part, not having discovered any impediment to said
marriage, I, priest, pastor undersigned have received the mutual
consent of
the parties //

and, with their approval, legitimized Mathilde, baptized on November
seventeenth last, in this parish, whom they acknowledged as their own.
The child's godfather was François Malboeuf, and the godmother was not
named, but must have been Victoire Leroux, grandmother of the child. In
the presence of Isaac Sauvage, acting as father of the groom, and Jean
Baptiste B ......, his witness; Joseph Vernier dit Ladouceur, father of
the bride, Gedeon Vernier, Hyacinthe Leduc, her witnesses, all of whom,
as well as the contracting parties, declared that they were unable to
