The 1881 Canada Census for Ste-Philippe, Laprairie shows a Francois Perrier and his wife Esther along with members of their family. Francois is then 63 and his wife is 60, a bit long in the tooth to have an 8 year old child. However in their household is another married couple, Elie Perrier aged 26 and his wife Mary aged 20 with their young son Israel aged one. I suspect that it is more likely that Gustave is the child of Elie & Mary.

The 1901 Census shows Elie and family, but Gustave is not living with them at District: QU LAPRAIRIE & NAPIERVILLE (#161) Subdistrict: Saint-Philippe F-1 Page 4.
This Census does not show a Gustave Perrier anywhere.
